Former president of OPEC, Diezani Alison- Madueke gained over 23 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, working through several positions within Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
When you study architecture, you fundamentally have to make structures stand up, the integrity of a building’s structure is crucial; it is otherwise a failed project. I have applied this notion throughout my career.
Diezani Alison – Madueke, oil and gas expert has remained active across multiple sectors throughout the years including architecture, oil and gas, transportation, mining and politics. A long list of accomplishments illustrates the contributions she made to her nation, to Nigerian society and globally. She left a positive impact on Nigeria’s economy and redefined the female presence in the Nigerian workforce by becoming the country’s first female executive director of Shell Petroleum in Nigeria, first female minister of the fully amalgamated Ministry of Transportation, first female minister of Petroleum Resources. Alison Madueke attained historic global recognition, as the first female to head a country delegation to OPEC, first female appointed as alternate president of OPEC and first female president of OPEC.
In addition, she was the first female appointed as president, ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
From holding honorable positions in the government to mentoring women on female empowerment, Alison Madueke successfully gave Nigeria a strong international presence spanning across multiple industries.
